Physics Designer

JOB DESCRIPTION

RaceWard Studio is seeking a Physics Designer for our upcoming titles. The Physics Designer will be required to work closely with the Design Leadership to conceptualize, prototype, and tune in-game vehicle systems and physics mechanics for the game world, in racing and action game fields.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical understanding of physics and maths, a strong interest in the design of systems that manage the physical behavior of gameplay elements and vehicles, and analytical skills to manage balancing needs.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with Design Leadership to design, implement, and polish vehicle systems, features and behaviours;
  • Iterate, polish, and balance all the physics functions related to in-game world physical props and gameplay elements;
  • Work within an established creative guideline to implement all the physics mechanics that fit the game’s vision and consolidate company philosophy in the racing field.
  • Create exhaustive physics design documentation to support the design choices, and constantly manage and check the in-game physics data
  • Work very closely with the Programming, UI/UX, Art, and Animations departments to find solutions for all development and team needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong passion for making and playing games;
  • Previous experience in the video game industry as Physics or Gameplay Designer;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of the racing field in all its forms, automotive and motorbikes among all;
  • Ability to iterate and implement and tune quickly without sacrificing quality;
  • Knowledge of the game production pipeline;
  • Extreme attention to detail;
  • Actively seek feedback to improve work while also providing guidance and feedback to peers;
  • Ability to adapt and cope with change as the production of the project demands;
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
NICE TO HAVE
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine;
  • Familiarity with Perforce;
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, especially of Google Spreadsheet functions.
